Study plan

Doctoral programmes normally last four years: one academic year consisting of an advanced training course (school phase) and up to three academic years for writing the thesis.

Completion of the academic part of any of the specialities of the doctoral course in Law gives the candidate the opportunity to prepare, under the supervision of a PhD professor from the Faculty, an original thesis on a topic appropriate to the nature of the speciality, proposed by the candidate and approved by the Faculty’s Scientific Council. A public discussion of the thesis is held with a jury appointed by the Dean of the Faculty, which includes members of other national and foreign academic institutions. The jury assesses the thesis and the exam and awards the doctoral student a final classification in the course.

Normal duration: 4 curricular years (8 semesters), one year for the academic part and three years for preparing the thesis.

Number of credits: 240 ECTS

Regime: mixed (daytime and post-labour)

Note: The specialities and curricular units taught in each academic year are available on the “Programmes and Regents” page.
