The admission requirements to the (research-focused) Master’s programme in Law are the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (or legal equivalent) with a minimum final score of 14 points;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (or legal equivalent) with a final score lower than 14 points (based on a favourable decision of the Scientific Board, in case the applicant has an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that demonstrates he/she has an adequate scientific training);
  • Other bachelor’s degrees (provided that the content is at least somewhat similar and based on a favourable decision of the Scientific Board, in case the applicant has an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that demonstrates he/she has an adequate scientific training);
  • Foreign higher academic degree of the 1st study cycle (Bologna);
  • Foreign higher academic degree acknowledged by the Scientific Board;
  • Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that shows that they have an adequate scientific training, as acknowledged by the Scientific Board.

According to the Excerpt of the Generic Resolution of the Scientific Board of 12 December 2012 on conditional admission to Master’s and Ph.D. Programmes, “enrolment in Master’s programmes is admitted provided that the Bachelor’s programme has been completed until 15 October of the academic year at stake”.

Applications are submitted online only in digital format, through the Application Portal.

a) Citizen Card or Identity Card;
b) Curriculum Vitae;
c) Certificate of completion of the Bachelor’s degree;
d) Certificate of courses/transcripts which include all the courses of the programme(s), including the respective scores;
e) Certificate or declaration with the final average of the programme, in case it is not mentioned already in the previous paragraph;

Obs.: The copies of the documents referred to in c), d) and e) must be properly notarised.
The original documents, or certified copy thereof, submitted through the Application Portal must be provided to the Academic Division or sent by post no later than 15 December of the respective academic year, if the applicant has been admitted and enrols in the programme.

a) Passport (or Citizen Card for Portuguese Citizens);
b) Curriculum Vitae;
c) Certificate of completion of the Bachelor’s degree;
d) Certificate of courses/transcripts which include all the courses of the programme(s), including the respective scores and final average;
e) Certificate or declaration with the final average of the programme/grade point average, if it is not indicated in the document mentioned in the previous paragraph;

Obs.: Copies of the documents referred to in c), d) and e) must be properly certified by the Portuguese consulate in the country where the degree was completed, or through Apostille pursuant to the Hague Convention.
The original documents, or certified copy thereof, submitted through the Application Portal must be provided to the Academic Division or sent by post no later than 15 December of the respective academic year, if the applicant has been admitted and enrols in the programme.

The following persons can apply to attend the Separate Curriculum Units:

– Any student of the University of Lisbon who attends a study cycle where such curriculum unit is elective, or who is enrolled in a study cycle different from the level to which said curriculum unit refers;

– External students to the University of Lisbon, enrolled in other institutions of Higher Education;

– Other interested persons, not enrolled in institutions of higher education.
